The Little Ripper is a highly versatile, flexible, adjustable paediatric power wheelchair.
It is specifically designed to
- Let children go where they want to go, when they want, play with their friends and enjoy themselves. It'll go on firm surfaces, grass and other likely areas where children want to travel and play.
- Allow for years of growth without having to change the chair ! It will accommodate significant growth in seating systems that change as the child grows.
- Assist therapists and carers therapeutically as it will accept a wide range of custom and commercially made seating systems and accessories selected for the individual and their particular needs.
- Be an economically viable option for young children whose growth means regular replacement of the seat. With ordinary chairs, this can becomes an expensive exercise.
- Be easy for parents and carers to push in freewheel when power driving is not appropriate.

Being highly adjustable, the Little Ripper will allow you to easily and progressively modify the seat width and seat depth requirements as your child grows. Starting from seat sizes 250mm (10") wide and 250mm (10") deep right up to 400mm (16") in width and depth. Not only will that help your child get the chair they need earlier, it will save you time and money.
And if you have special controller needs, the Little Ripper can probably accommodate those too !

To assist with any postural requirements and client management, a foot operated manual seat tilt is in-built.
Transporting the Little Ripper
And because power chairs can be big and bulky making them difficult to transport, the Little Ripper has a folding backrest to make it smaller and more compact. Alternatively, you can just remove the seat !

Adjustable in seat width |
The seat width is manually adjustable in increments of 25mm (1") from 25cms (10") through to 40cms (16"), allowing the seat to be expanded as the child grows. Due to the significant growth range, the one seat may provide for a child over several years. |
Adjustable in seat depth |
Similarly to the seat width, there is 15cms (6") of growth capacity built into the seat depth adjustment. This will accommodate growth over a number of years. The seat depth is adjustable in increments of 25mm (1") from 25cms (10") through to 40cms (16"). |
Adjustable seat height |
As the child grows and leg length increases, the seat height from the ground can be increased also so as to give adequate leg clearance. The seat height is manually adjustable in 12mm (½") increments from 40cms (16") seat rail height up to 53cms (21") Will accommodate a drop in seat cushion. The seat rail design allows the use of a "drop in" seat cushion up to 5cms (2") in depth. |

The seat can be tilted back by foot release. Depending on seat rail height, seat tilt angles can be achieved of 30 to 40 degrees, depending on seat height. |
Adjustable armrest height |
In order to position the arms and shoulders correctly, the armrests are adjustable. The armrests can also be lowered to go under tables. These can be adjusted in height from 18cms (7") above a standard 5cms (2") seat cushion above the seat rail to a maximum of 32cms (12 ½"). Armrests of greater height range are available as an option. |
Adjustable armrest position |
The armrests are adjustable in position along the side rails so as to allow correct support for the client. They can be adjusted from 14cms (5 ½") from the front of the chair to a maximum position of 26cms (10") (individual seating system permitting) |
Removable armrests |
To make it easier for parents, therapists and carers to transfer the client to and from the chair by hand or hoist, the armrests can be easily removed and then replaced back at the original height setting. |
Swing away, removable legrests |
To make it easier to transfer clients into and out of the chair, the legrests can be swung away and/or removed if required. Footplates can be flipped up too. |
Adjustable legrest length |
Setting the legrest length can be important in correct seating. The Little Ripper incorporates legrest length adjustment from 10cms (4") to 25cms (10") in increments of 1" (25.4 mm). |
Adjustable angle footplates |
Dorsiflexion & plantarflexion. The footplate can be adjusted for dorsiflexion and plantarflexion. They can also be adjusted to allow for rotation of the foot. |
Adjustable footplate position |
To allow for a vertical leg position and individual leg length, the footplate position can be moved in or out as required. |
Folding backrest |
The backrest can be folded forwards to make the transportation of the Little Ripper easier in a station wagon or SUV. |
